A daily paper for a scene that never had one

Heavy metal generates more news across more countries than almost any genre on earth, and almost none of it is gathered in one trustworthy place. Heavy Metal Today reads the announcements at their source — the bands, the labels, the festivals, the promoters — every twenty minutes, and prints one edition each morning at six o’clock, Central European Time.

It looks like an 1880s letterpress broadsheet because a newspaper of record should look like it means it. The content is entirely of today.

How it works

Reports are clustered so one story appears once, however many outlets carried it. Factual claims — a release date, a lineup, a venue closure — are extracted into a permanent structured record before any brief is written, so the article can never assert what the record does not hold. Claims are checked against independent open data, contradictions are resolved by source authority, and corrections publish themselves.
